| Practice Nurses Our practice nurses provide a
wide range of services including immunisations, family planning checks,
cervical smears, ear syringing, minor injuries, first aid, travel and
general health advice.
Chronic disease management is also provided for patients with
diabetes, heart disease, stroke, asthma, COPD or hypertension.
If you have one of these diseases we offer regular monitoring
consultations with nurses specially trained in those fields. You will be
sent a letter inviting you to attend for a thorough health check and
lifestyle advice. We advise patients to take up these appointments even
if they are regularly seeing a GP.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are nurses specially trained to advise on health
care, particularly for mothers, children, the elderly and handicapped.
You can contact them by phoning 522621 between 8.30 am and 10.00 am. If
they are out of the office please leave a clear message.
District Nurses
District Nurses look after people confined to their homes. You can
contact them by phoning 859804. If they are out of the office please
leave a clear message.
GP Registrar This is a training practice. This means that qualified
doctors who are training for a career in general practice spend periods
of up to a year working in general practice under the supervision of Dr
David Crichton or Dr Tony Benson. Medical Students Medical
students from Southampton University join our practice for part of their
training. You may be asked if you mind seeing them. They need this
experience to qualify as good doctors Confidentiality All our staff are
bound by a duty of confidentiality. We respect your right to privacy
and keep all your health information confidential and secure. It is
important that the NHS keeps accurate and up to date records about your health and treatment so that those treating you can give you the best
possible advice and care. This information is only available to those
involved in your care and you should never be asked for personal
information by anyone other than those directly involved in your care. You
have a right to know what information we hold about you. If you would
like to see your medical records, please call the enquiries number to
make an appointment with the reception staff. Video Recording
We use video recording as an aid to teaching and learning. From time to
time surgery sessions are recorded. You will always be made aware if this
is proposed and will be asked to sign a consent form. Any recording made
will only be viewed by the doctors involved in the learning and the
recording will be erased within 12 months. If you would rather not be
recorded, you do not have to agree to this. Your Suggestions and
Complaints If you have a suggestion that you feel would be of help
to the practice, please write it down and hand it to the receptionist
If you have any concerns about any aspect of our service, please let us
know. Speak to whomever you feel most comfortable with - your GP, the
practice manager or our reception staff will be happy to try and help.
In the majority of cases, concerns can be resolved quite easily through
our complaints procedure. However, if you feel we have not dealt with
the issues you have raised as you would wish, you can contact the
Complaints Manager at Bournemouth PCT on 01202 443700. The PCT also
operates a Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) which can often
help to resolve any problems before they become formal complaints. To
speak to a PALS officer phone 01202 318954.
